Circumstance
.
One hundred years, I've krept, I've leapt
I have been strong, I've been inept
Visions dancing through my mind
Of those whom I have left behind
Abstraction slips into my dreams
Of gothic nights and sun lit beams
Where love and hate persist as one
Where light and dark have not begun
.
One hundred years, I've seen, I've heard
The waterfalls and humming birds
This great expanse which I have known
Is to each their very own
Grouped together in my head
Where some have followed, some have lead
There is no telling what will come
When what I know has been undone
.
One hundred years, I sleep, I wake
When the land or body shakes
Through the dark, unto the dawn
From their powers, I have drawn
Never knowing, time will tell
In the heavens, in my hell
A mind and body have been split
By the snake my hand was bit
.
One hundred years, I've loved, I've lost
I've been taken by the frost
I have been smart, I have been wise
I've seen the pain within their eyes
But we'll never make mistakes
Sometimes life is all it takes
For who will see the coming day
And make us know the path, the way
