Don the Masks

Through the darkness
Swirling mist of endless dreams
I hear them call, yearning
Screaming, longing
 a want to be released
Materialized through deepest black
 Eyes and mouths agape
  like faces
   Screaming for eternity
release
Stone faced like ancient masks
 emotions lost in time but
found again in marrow, bone, and
 blood

To don the mask requires strength
More so than to see it
face to face
From the void they have appeared
And who or where
Were they
 Are they or
Will they be
