Love’s Pain
The pain inside I can’t ignore
Love exists for me no more
A sorry shell I have become
After all was said and done
She is there, my heart she’s claimed
I want to love, though I’m to blame
I’ve hurt too many, far too long
To love me now she must be strong
I want so much to make her mine
To leave all in my past behind
I should never hurt again
If she accepts, my heart she’ll mend
But if I wait too long, she’ll go
My love for her she’ll never know
How to speak and what to say
I am lost if she won’t stay
I pray that she will see my plight
And do what we both know is right
But how to let her in my thoughts
For soon it will be all for naught
She strays from me now as I speak
She loses patience in the meek
I’ll protect her from all harm
If she opens her sweet arms
A decision she must make
And away from me, this pain, she’ll take
